SŌMA is the only clinic in Bali using CGF, an advanced form of PRP made without additives, that holds your growth factors in a natural fibrin network so they are released over several days instead of all at once.

SŌMA Aesthetics & Longevity Club in Uluwatu has upgraded its two most requested regenerative treatments. The Vampire Facial in Bali and hair loss treatment in Bali are now performed with CGF (Concentrated Growth Factors) instead of traditional PRP (platelet-rich plasma). CGF is prepared with specialised Italian equipment. Early studies show stronger results than conventional PRP. As of October 2026, no other clinic in Bali offers it.

Why SŌMA moved beyond traditional PRP

PRP works by delivering a concentrated dose of a patient's own growth factors to the skin or scalp, where they signal tissue to repair, build collagen and support hair follicles. The concept is sound. The weak point is how the material is made and how long it keeps working.

Traditional PRP is a liquid prepared with an anticoagulant in a standard centrifuge. Once it is applied, its platelets release most of their growth factors in one short burst. Skin rebuilds collagen over weeks, and a hair follicle's growth cycle runs over months, so much of the signal is spent long before the tissue has finished responding.

CGF was developed to solve exactly this. SŌMA's medical team adopted it because it improves the part of the treatment that matters most: the quality and staying power of the growth factors.

What makes CGF more advanced

CGF is a third-generation platelet concentrate. PRP was the first generation. Three differences set it apart:

  • Nothing added. CGF is prepared without anticoagulants or chemical activators, so the material is entirely the patient's own blood.

  • Specialised Italian equipment. CGF is made in a dedicated Italian centrifuge that cycles through a programmed sequence of alternating speeds instead of one fixed spin. This gentler process concentrates platelets and growth factors into a denser, higher-quality preparation.

  • Sustained release. Growth factors are held in a natural fibrin network, the same protein mesh the body uses to stabilise healing tissue, and released gradually over days instead of all at once.

SŌMA uses the liquid form of CGF. It can be applied through microneedling channels for the face and injected precisely into the scalp. For a full explanation of how CGF relates to PRP, PRF and other blood-derived preparations, see SŌMA's guide to PRP, PRF, CGF, LPCGF and APAG.

What the early research shows

CGF is a newer treatment, and its research base is still growing. The first results consistently point in the same direction: CGF delivers more than traditional PRP.

  • More growth factors. A 2025 review in Medical Science Monitor reports that CGF contains higher levels of growth factors than first- and second-generation platelet concentrates such as PRP and PRF.

  • Longer activity. In a 2021 laboratory study in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, CGF kept releasing VEGF, TGF-β1 and other healing signals for up to 28 days. Standard PRP releases its content in a short burst.

  • Better hair regrowth than PRP alone. In a 2025 split-scalp study in the Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, each half of the same scalp received a different treatment. The side treated with CGF added to PRP grew more hair than the side treated with traditional PRP alone.

  • Measurable hair density gains. In a 2024 study in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, patients with pattern hair loss treated with CGF gained around 40 hairs per cm² on average after 12 weeks, with no serious side effects.

  • Better skin results. A 2026 study of 219 patients in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology found that adding CGF to light-based skin treatment led to greater improvement in wrinkles, hydration, elasticity and firmness over six months than the light treatment alone.

These studies are early and mostly small. Together they support what SŌMA's doctors set out to achieve: a more advanced, more effective version of PRP. As with any treatment, results depend on the right diagnosis, the right candidate and a full course of sessions.

Specialists in advanced regenerative medicine

SŌMA can offer CGF because regenerative medicine is a core speciality of the clinic, not a side service. The medical team includes Dr Muhammad Nadim (M.Biomed), who focuses on regenerative medicine, under the medical direction of Dr Shirley Yuliana Kwee (MBChB Glasgow, GDFM NUS). Alongside CGF, SŌMA offers autologous exosomes, PRF bio-fillers and other advanced regenerative protocols. That breadth allows the doctor to choose the right preparation for each concern instead of offering one standard treatment to everyone.

For patients, the benefit is simple. A treatment that is already well understood becomes the advanced version, prepared and administered by doctors who specialise in it.

What changes in the Vampire Facial and hair restoration

The Hollywood Vampire Facial combines microneedling, radiofrequency and CGF. Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels, radiofrequency heats deeper layers to support collagen tightening, and liquid CGF is applied into the open channels so the patient's growth factors keep working while new collagen forms. It is suited to fine lines, dull or uneven skin, enlarged pores, rough texture and selected acne scarring.

CGF hair restoration delivers liquid CGF into thinning areas of the scalp to support follicles that have shortened their growth phase. It can be used on its own or combined with autologous exosomes and Cellbooster vitamin therapy, depending on the type and stage of hair loss. SŌMA is the only clinic in Bali offering both CGF and autologous exosomes for hair.

For the patient, the experience stays familiar: a consultation, a small blood draw, preparation in the CGF system and the treatment itself, usually within 75 to 90 minutes.

Before any PRP treatment, ask how it is prepared

"PRP" is not one standardised product. Two clinics can use the same name for very different preparations. Many clinics offering PRP use a general-purpose centrifuge, a single quick spin and tubes that were not designed for the procedure. The result can be a preparation with few platelets and little growth-factor activity. It looks the same as properly prepared PRP but may do far less. When results disappoint, the preparation is often the reason, not the treatment itself.

Before booking any PRP-based treatment, in Bali or anywhere else, patients should ask:

  1. Which system prepares the PRP? Is it a dedicated medical system with matching tubes, or a generic laboratory centrifuge?

  2. Which protocol is followed? What spin speeds, timing and steps are used, and is the protocol documented?

  3. Is anything added to the blood? Ask whether an anticoagulant or activator is used and why.

  4. What exactly is injected? Is it PRP, PRF, CGF or another blood fraction, and in liquid or gel form?

  5. Who prepares it and who treats? A doctor should plan the treatment and stay responsible for the preparation.

A clinic using an advanced protocol will answer these questions easily. A vague answer is a reason to look elsewhere. SŌMA's checklist for choosing a trusted PRP clinic in Bali covers the wider safety questions, from sterile consumables to aftercare.

Frequently asked questions

Is CGF the same as PRP?

CGF is an advanced form of PRP. Both are made from the patient's own blood. CGF is prepared without additives in specialised Italian equipment and releases growth factors over several days instead of in one short burst.

Is CGF more effective than traditional PRP?

Early studies point that way. CGF contains higher levels of growth factors and releases them for longer. In a split-scalp study, adding CGF produced more hair regrowth than PRP alone. The research is still growing, and the doctor confirms the right treatment at consultation.

Which other clinics in Bali offer CGF?

As of October 2026, SŌMA is the only clinic in Bali offering CGF for vampire facials and hair restoration.
